An Ancient Chinese Internal Martial Art & Healing System T'ai Chi Ch'uan, "The Grand Ultimate Fist", is an internal and highly sophisticated Martial Art that has been practiced for centuries in China. T'ai Chi is a series of slow, fluid, circular and deliberate movements that initiate from ones center of balance, "Dan Tien", and extends and expresses itself to the furthest points of the body. The mind is calm, focused and alert and one's breathing is regulated to a natural state of slow, gentle and deep breaths. The soft and gentle movements of T'ai Chi Ch'uan are like the waves of an ocean. They push and merge into one another creating a continuous flow of energy, seemingly with no beginning and no end. Used as a Martial Art - A Master of T'ai Chi Ch'uan could make his/her body as soft as cotton or as hard as steel. one moment as motionless as a mountain, the next as swift as ocean tides. Achieving such unpredictable change in dynamics can lead to the highest level of martial tactics in self defense. These interactions of hard/soft are based in principle on the understanding of Yin and Yang (the two natural forces of our universe), and their interaction with each other. Historically, T'ai Chi Ch'uan was kept a precious secret, taught only to a few chosen disciples who where both physically strong and morally sound. Today it is truly a national treasure which anyone can learn and benefit through its practice.
